Grayson Martial Arts - Benefits for Teens Who Do Karate
Reflecting back, growing up between the middle school/high school era challenged everybody – and it still does! Everything is changing during this phase: relationships, interests, hormones, emotions, beliefs, and much, much more. It’s a life defining moment. The teenage years can be brutal, but there are things that can be done to make them better.
1) Be Around Friends
A part of the teenage years is trying to find a place to belong. While some people make friends easily, others struggle with this area. By helping teens find their niche, they will naturally link with other people who share their interests.
2) Develop Self-Respect
One of life's valuable lessons is learning how to respect yourself. As it is easier to listen to negative comments produced by others and self, it's not healthy. When teens can develop that respect muscle, only good can from it. They learn to be fair and love themselves for how they are.
3) Be Around Positively Influential People
Good development can come from being around positively influential people. Teens are like plants – they will absorb everything that goes on around them. Place them around people like sport coaches or music teachers, and it will affect them positively during the teenage years.
All of these aspects are offered at Choe's HapKiDo. We love to watch individuals grow and to be a part of their lives. Students may come into our studios with the day's grit on their shoulders, but they leave our classes with a new boost of confidence. They know that they have found a community to relate to, and it's a great place to let off steam!

Grayson Kickboxing - Perseverance is Key!
. . .
Developing the ability to persevere is a work out on its
own. And without a good teacher or guide, learning how to push through
difficulties is harder. Because people tend to sell themselves short, it usually
takes someone on the outside to see another person’s potential. That is why
fitness coaches are an effective way to get in shape.
At I LoveKickboxing Buckhead, our instructors make
it part of their careers to motivate people to new fitness levels. We
understand that the pain resulted from kickboxing can make life difficult, but it
is only temporary. After the pain leaves, the body shines the results of good,
hard exercise.
All of our teaching and pushing at I LoveKickboxing Buckhead are really to influence people to persevere. If we
can show people the positive outcomes of pushing through hard work, then we
will be able to influence a change in the mind. Soon, people are able to
persuade themselves to persevere through exercise.
We love watching people transform into confident,
persevering individuals. Especially when they realize they can take control
over their lives! If anything, we love watching people become happier about
themselves. Through the I LoveKickboxing Buckhead program, people
learn to see the best of themselves.

Why Respect Matters- Grayson HapKiDo
Writing Contributor: Christie McGowan
. . .
If not for respect, and if everyone instead acted on self-preferences, the
world would be in constant chaos. Just imagine it – a world lacking respect
would result everyone being more careless and less trustworthy. People wouldn’t
care about others so much, and people would be greedier because gratitude would
also not exist.
The effects of respect—showing gratitude, trust, and sensitivity towards
others—allows peace to be possible. For example, respect between the bond of
parent and child allows both sides to grow positively. If the child shows
respect towards parent, it means he/she understands the purposes for parents. From
years of receiving shelter and love, children grow up with gratitude and try to
show it—if not from listening and obeying, then definitely through holidays and
birthdays. If children show respect, then parents will also have respect for
them. So, for there to be peace, everyone has to be on the same page.
At Choe's HapKiDo in Grayson, we care to influence respect to our
students. Through practices of different styles of bowing and attentive
listening, HapKiDo students carry the principles of respect into other areas of
their lives: home, school, work, and social events. And eventually, they
realize that they have also gained respect from their surrounding peers.

Getting The Most Out of Your Workout
A popular fitness magazine published an article entitled “11
Ways to Burn More Calories.” Read through the list and notice how many of them are
integral to every single ilovekickboxing class. Check this out!
Exercising on a Full or Empty Stomach – the recommendation
here is to have at least some food in your system for your workout. This
provides some reserves for your muscles to work at peak performance and
increases fat burn rates as compared to not having eaten prior to exercise. Use
good judgment in timing and in amounts to eat and get to know your body. High
quality inputs give your body the nutrients it needs to burn the most fat and
calories.
Upper-Body or Lower Body – everyone wants those strong,
sculpted arms. Fortunately, all muscle groups are worked on in every ILKB
class. But it’s those big muscle groups that help burn the most calories. So
embrace every lunge, squat, and burpee (everyone’s favorite) especially when
jumps are added, not to mention all the great heavy bag work, and know that you
are maximizing your efforts for fat and calorie burn along with muscle
strengthening.
Slow and Steady or Interval Training – the article states
that, “alternating between periods of all-out effort and rest, it lets you go
harder, longer, to burn the same number of calories in about half the time as
you would with steady state exercise.” Studies even suggest that high intensity
intervals can boost your metabolism for 14 hours. Every ILKB class has those
high intensity bursts separated by a short rest, whether in the conditioning
portion of class or the heavy bag work. It’s awesome to catch your breath while
your instructor explains the next combo so you can go all out til the next one
– this is high intensity interval training!
Working Out By Yourself or With Others – this one is rather
self-explanatory. Our ILKB family loves to work out together. We all encourage
each other and push each other to go harder even when we don’t realize that’s
what we are doing.
Starting Your Workout with Static or Dynamic Stretches – the
article recommends that light jogging or butt kicks keeps your muscles strong
instead of static “bend and hold” stretches. So all that conditioning at the
beginning of every ILKB class keeps you strong so you can use proper form and
burn more calories.
Doing the Same Workout Every Day or Switching It Up –
switching it up wins out. The amazing variety in every ILKB class makes it easy
to switch up your workout. Even though the number of basic kicks and punches is
relatively small and easy to learn, the variety of combos makes every class new
and different, challenging your body to keep up and burn more calories.
Strength Training or Cardio First – putting strength
training before cardio exercise is said to burn the most calories. There are
two energy systems your body uses to convert food to energy: anaerobic (stored
energy) and aerobic (converting fat to energy.) They do not work independently,
but generally strength training (the conditioning part of ILKB classes) uses up
anaerobic energy and cardio training (the heavy bag work) dips deep into the
aerobic system. So even the order of the class is designed to provide the most
effective workout for your efforts.

Weight Loss Success Formula
Weight Loss Success Formula
Working out, healthy eating, and dedication; the most
efficient formula to weight loss success!
This is always a lot easier said than done, but it’s about breaking old
habits and creating new ones. These new
habits become the building blocks of an exciting new way of life.
The working out part only takes an hour of my whole day
and half of working out is just showing up.
The benefits of working out include relieving stress, improving
self-confidence, boosting your energy level and of course Weight Loss! My kickboxing program is the fast and fun way
to meet these goals.
This brings us to the second part of the formula, healthy
eating. You don’t have to completely
give up eating the foods you love to lose weight, just watch the portion sizes
of those high calorie items. Substitute
side items for healthier alternatives, such as green beans instead of
fries. Stop “dieting” and consider
making these small permanent changes
as part of your healthy new lifestyle!
Everything comes with time and hard work, so the more
dedicated you are to making your lifestyle change, the faster your weight loss
results will come. Set goals and always
keep pushing yourself, and think about how much better you feel after working
out and making healthy eating choices!
